Nursery

Hello and welcome to our Nursery!

The whole school vision is: "We may be small, but together we can make a big difference"

In nursery, we may have the smallest children but we want to make a big difference to the start of their educational journey.

At Loscoe we recognise that being given the opportunity to educate your child in the early years of their life is a privilege. We use a thematic approach as a basis for our engaging curriculum, this is then supported with high quality texts and questions of enquiry to support the development of age-related skills and knowledge, in line with the statutory framework for the EYFS. We review the content of our curriculum annually to take account the interests and needs of each cohort of children.

We strive to support all children to develop good communication and language skills which will support them as they continue on their learning journey. Children engage in daily Speaking and Listening Activities, story time sessions and join in with singing our core nursery rhymes. Our daily nursery sessions include opportunities to build relationships with others working with adult support, working alongside friends as well as working independently.

Each week we share a 'Chatter Time' home activity to support language acquisition, a set of topic related photographs and pictures are used as a basis for conversations at home with family members. We encourage the children to think of questions which they would like to explore within our learning and these are incorporated into our weekly planning.

More Information about our daily routine can be found in the new starter information pack, downloadable below.
